I wear these shoes with Spenco 3/4 arch supports and I actually can walk or play with the kids longer than if I wear various combinations of cross-trainers/running shoes with either off-the-shelf or customized inserts. (Mostly I have used New Balance or Saucony, and I've had advice from physical therapists on what to wear.) My doctor told me the reason I have foot and knee problems is "benign joint hypermobility syndrome." Maybe it's just that my feet happen to fit the shape of these shoes, but they have provided surprisingly good support for me. Most importantly, they are snug around the heel and keep my foot from rolling around so much. Wearing shoes that are loose in the heel has given me plantar fascial pain and knee pain.Aravon is a New Balance brand of casual shoes. This is by far the plainest shoe they sell. I've tried their loafers, but just couldn't wear them. My feet are very unusual though, and I'd bet that most people would be able to wear a lot of the more stylish Aravon designs and find them very comfortable.
